The Pride of the Southland Band first played the Osborne Brothers' 1967 bluegrass hit, "Rocky Top," during halftime against Alabama in 1972. The crowd at Neyland Stadium went crazy, and it soon became the unofficial fight song of the Tennessee Volunteers (and the official state song). After a big win, the Vols quarterback leads the band in performing the song, with Peyton Manning popularizing the tradition. “Rocky Top, you'll always be, home sweet home to me.”
